COVID-19 Safety Guide
Protecting our visitors & employees

Summary of Key Safety Strategies.

The health & safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors is our top priority as we welcome people back to the Museum. The re-opening plan has been developed by Sovereign Hill in line with all Federal and State Government regulations and has been designed to protect all staff and visitors from the potential exposure to COVID-19.


SCREENING PROTOCOLS

Conduct Non-Invasive Temperature Checks on staff, volunteers & contractors
Staff and volunteers will be screened for high temperature when they arrive at the property.

Staff and volunteers attending the workplace with a visible sign of a cold or flu like symptoms will be asked to complete a Fit for Work assessment prior to them entering the site.

Conduct Non-Invasive Temperature Checks on visitors
We may require our visitors to participate in non-invasive health checks as a condition of entry. Any person who is displaying a high temperature associated with fever will not be permitted into the museum.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

Please make your booking online. If you can’t book online, please contact us on 03 5337 1100. Before leaving home, check our website for the latest updates and information. Please be ready to make on-site payments using a contactless bank card rather than cash where possible. If you feel unwell or have any cold or flu-like symptoms, please stay home and visit another day. Please contact our Bookings team at bookings@sovereignhill.com.au to change your booking if you need to.

SOCIAL DISTANCING PROCEDURES

Physical Distancing
Please make sure you are stay appropriately socially distanced at all times and keep 1.5m between you and others. We will have clear markers to help you keep a safe distance and have adapted our experiences to support social distancing. We have adapted or suspended some experiences and facilities to ensure that social distancing is suitably maintained.

Photography
To ensure that we comply with the set 1.5m physical distancing measures, please don’t approach staff or volunteers too close for photos. We are happy to be in a photo, but with just a little more distance than usual.

Separation in Seated Areas
All Food & Beverage facilities will be set up so we can keep appropriate distancing between people.

Separate Visitors on Passenger Vehicles
We will run our horse drawn coach experience with single group or single passenger bookings, so that visitors can stay a safe distance apart.

Reduce Indoor Venue Capacity
While most of the Sovereign Hill experience takes place outdoors, we do have many indoor shops, exhibits and dining facilities available. Capacity levels at each of these venues will be reduced to ensure that there is plenty of room for social distancing.

Demonstrations & Guided Experiences
Visitors viewing entertainment such as indoor & outdoor performances or demonstrations should stay 1.5m from other visitors.

SANITISATION & DISINFECTION PROCEDURES

Providing Hand Sanitisation Stations throughout the Museum
All staff will use the supplied hand sanitiser before entering the workplace. Hand sanitisation stations will be installed at entry points as directed. Sovereign Hill will provide sanitisation stations throughout the outdoor museum offering free hand sanitiser for our visitors.

Increased Sanitisation and Disinfecting Services across Sovereign Hill
Sovereign Hill has introduced Enhanced Cleaning measures, throughout the day, including disinfecting high frequency touch points, such as tables and chairs, service counters, grab and flush handles, door handles/plates, elevator buttons and taps.

Toilet and Baby Change Rooms
We have increased cleaning and disinfecting of all toilets including accessible toilets and baby change room facilities.

Coach Rides & Mine Tours
At the end of the experience staff will spray and wipe down the seats with disinfectant before the next visitor enters.

Encourage Hand Sanitisation When Participating in Rides & Experiences
We will provide and encourage the use of hand sanitiser at the entry of our mine tour and carriage rides as supplied.

Eliminate Self-Service Cutlery, Napkin and Condiment Stations
Napkins, knives, forks, spoons, sugar, sauce and takeaway coffee cup lids will be safely stored and served to customers upon request.

All Food Items are shielded from Visitors
All unpackaged food will be displayed safely away from contact in glass cabinets.

COMMUNICATION & SIGNAGE

Pre Visit Check In
Visitors who have pre-booked their entry ticket to attend Sovereign Hill or any of our experiences or have made a reservation at the Sovereign Hill Hotel will receive information before their visit explaining how they can stay safe and enjoy their experience by following the basic social distancing and hygiene guidelines.

Display Social Distancing & Hygiene Signage
We will have signage in place reminding visitors to practice good social distancing and good hygiene will support our staff and volunteers in communicating this message.

Staff Communications
All staff have appropriate training which will help them to stay safe and keep our visitors safe during their experience.
